At Gilbertstone Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all children develop the knowledge, skills and motivation to lead healthy, active lives. We recognise the important role that physical activity, physical education and sport play in supporting pupils' physical health, mental wellbeing, personal development and academic success.

The Government provides additional funding to primary schools through the PE and Sport Premium to help improve the quality of physical education, physical activity and sport. This funding enables schools to make sustainable improvements that benefit both current and future pupils.

We use our PE and Sport Premium funding to:

• Support all pupils to live healthy, active lives. 

• Increase participation in regular physical activity and school sport. 

• Ensure all children, regardless of background, need or ability, can access and enjoy high-quality PE and sporting opportunities.
• Improve children's health, wellbeing, confidence, resilience and personal development through physical activity.
• Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in PE by developing staff expertise and confidence.
• Broaden pupils' experiences through a diverse range of sports, activities and enrichment opportunities.
• Increase opportunities for participation in competitive sport.
• Create sustainable improvements that have a lasting impact on pupils and the wider school community.
